Russian citizens will be able to have two foreign passports
The State Duma has introduced a bill according to which Russian citizens will be able to apply for registration of a second foreign passport during the validity period of the previously issued passport.
It is expected that this innovation will greatly simplify the implementation of trips for the Russian citizens going abroad, especially for those who commit such trips often enough, as well as in case of travel to a country where there is an on-going conflict.
We remind you that at the moment second passport can be obtained only by those citizens of Russia, whose work involves regular (at least once a month) travel outside the Russian Federation. This second issue of the passport is permitted only at the request of the organization sending the citizen from the Russian Federation.
On the adoption of the amendments, every citizen of the Russian Federation will be able to obtain a second passport during the validity period of the first one. Depending on the validity period of the first passport, the second passport may be valid for 5 or 10 years from the date of issue.
