Simplification of visa regime between Russia and Liechtenstein

Russian Foreign Ministry published a report on the simplification of procedures for issuing visas to citizens of Russia and Liechtenstein.

According to the report the procedure is simplified for issuing single-entry visas valid for up to 90 days on the basis of a direct request from the host organization without provision of the invitations stated in the legislation of Russia and Liechtenstein.

This procedure applies to:

- Members of official delegations;
- Entrepreneurs;
- Journalists;
- People working in science, culture and education;
- Students and post-graduate students with intentions of  study or educational training;
- Participants in international sporting events;
- Participants of exchange programs between twin cities;
- Close relatives of persons who are lawfully in the territory of the Parties involved (spouses, children (including adopted) parents (including custodians), sisters, brothers, grandparents, grandchildren).

The term of visa issue is 5 working days, but in the event of emergency this period may be reduced to 3 working days or less.

The fee for processing visa applications is 35 euros. For the visa applications submitted within 3 days before the intended date of departure the fee is 70 euros.


The agreement establishes the categories of persons exempt from paying visa fees:

- Close relatives - spouses, children (including adopted) parents (including guardians and trustees), sisters, brothers, grandparents and grandchildren of citizens of the Russian Federation and the Principality of Liechtenstein, those who are legally residing in the territory of the Principality of Liechtenstein or the Russian Federation;
- Members of official delegations following an official invitation to take part in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programs, as well as events organized by intergovernmental organizations;
- Pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who are undertaking  study or educational training;
- Schoolchildren, students, graduate students and accompanying teachers who are undertaking study or educational training;
- Persons with disabilities and persons who accompany them when necessary;
- Persons who have presented documents proving the necessity of their travel on humanitarian grounds, including receiving urgent medical treatment and persons accompanying them;
- Participants in youth international sporting events and persons accompanying them;
- Persons participating in scientific, cultural and artistic activities, including university and other exchange programs;
- Participants in official exchange programs organized by twin cities.
