The agreement on integration with South Ossetia has been submitted for ratification
The President of the Russian Federation submitted for ratification to the State Duma the agreement between Russia and South Ossetia on the Alliance and Integration.
This agreement, signed in March 2015, involves gradual establishment of closer cooperation in the social, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as within the sphere of defense and security.
Agreement provides for the following measures:
- creation of a common space of security and defense;
- free border crossing;
- integration of the customs authorities;
- expansion of cooperation between the law-enforcement bodies;
- simplification of procedures for acquisition of citizenship of the Russian Federation;
-issues of wages, pensions and health insurance.
We remind that the agreement has already been ratified by the Parliament of South Ossetia in April of this year.
The agreement between Russia and South Ossetia on the integration of alliance is to be concluded for a period of 25 years and suggests the possibility of automatic renewal for subsequent periods of ten years, unless one of the parties gives notice of intention to terminate its effect not later than one year before the expiration of that period.
