Proposed simplification of Migration laws for foreign students
26.06.2017
Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting of the Presidium of the Council for Strategic Development and Priority Projects where the project "Export Education" was discussed. During the meeting it was noted that the priority goal by 2025 is to educate 3.5 times more foreign students and graduate students in Russia. In order to achieve this, the government plans to make migration legislation more loyal to these categories of foreign citizens.
According to the Prime Minister, first of all, Export Education is one of the strongest factors of interpersonal communications, expanding cultural contacts, attracting the most talented people to the national economy, as well as building long-term policy for the country.
Moreover, D. Medvedev indicated that it is necessary to improve legislation that regulates the issues of admission, training and issuance of foreign citizens, as well as the procedure for their entry and stay on the territory of the Russian Federation. In particular, it is necessary to correct migration laws: to make them more loyal in relation to foreign students.
This will require the adoption of a whole range of measures that will increase the attractiveness of domestic education among foreigners.
