Russia Simplified Visa Regime with China and Ecuador
The Governments of the Russian Federation and China in the Special Administrative Region of Macao signed an agreement on the mutual abolition of visa requirements. The agreement extends to Russian citizens and permanent residents of the Special Administrative Region of Macao of the People's Republic of China who can now make visa-free travel for up to 30 days. The agreement entered into force on September 30, 2012.
We note that the Special Administrative Region of Macao has considerable autonomy, including its own laws, legal, financial, customs and immigration systems.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, on November 24, 2012 the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ecuador “On conditions for the denial of visa requirements for mutual travel of citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ecuador” will come into force too. Citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ecuador will be able to enter, exit, transit through and or stay on the territory of the another state without a visa for up to 90 days within a period of 180 days from the date of their first entry.
If a citizen of one of the countries intends to stay or reside for more than 90 days on the territory of the other, or intends to perform labor or commercial activities on its territory, he or she must obtain a visa in accordance with the state’s legislation.
