The Russian Federation Reinstates Visa Requirements for Air Crews from the E.U.
The staff of an airline crew from E.U. member states on November, 1 will have to get a visa to fly to Russia in connection with the termination of the moratorium on the relevant provisions of the Russian legislation.
We recall that earlier a crew member could enter Russia without first obtaining a visa, as the Russian Federation in a gesture of goodwill offered a visa moratorium for airline crews. However, as was specified in advance this moratorium is only valid until November, 1, that is, the period of the negotiations with the EU on an agreement to further facilitate the visa regime.
A reinstatement of a visa regime will affect a minority of airline flights, as Russia has bilateral agreements on the facilitation of entry to 17 of the 27 E.U. countries.
Russia does not have similar agreements with 10 E.U. countries. The countries where no such agreement exists are Belgium, Hungary, Greece, Latvia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia, Finland, Czech Republic and Estonia.
