List of Grounds for the Barring Entry to Russia of Foreign Citizens May Be Expanded
The Federal Migration Service of Russia (FMS) has prepared a draft legislation introducing new grounds for barring entry to Russia of foreign citizens.
The bill proposes to introduce a ban on entry to Russia for three years from the date of departure from the country by such foreigners who in their previous stay in Russia did not leave before the expiration of the 30 days from the end of the period of temporary stay.
Exceptions would be made in cases where such foreigners could not leave Russia for the following reasons:
- The need for emergency treatment,
- Serious illness or death of a relative living in Russia,
- An extreme or other spontaneous occurrence.
Establish that the enforcement of the rules will be a daily automated practice, enabling timely decisions to ban entry into Russia and will enhance the effectiveness of measures against illegal migration.
