Registration of Foreign Citizens on the Territory of the Russian Federation

Russians living abroad will be able to get a new passport by mail

President of Russian Federation has signed the Federal Law, according to which Russians living abroad will be able to obtain a new Russian passport by mail. Until now, such citizens while exchanging one passport for another were required  to visit the diplomatic mission or consulate on two occasions, to apply, and then  to obtain the document. Now, the number of visits will be reduced to one, as the law introduces the possibility to send passport from diplomatic mission or consulate of the Russian Federation to the location of Russian citizen at the expense of the citizen or his legal representative.
