The employer has the right to send a payment sheet to the employee by e-mail

According to the letter of the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation, the employer has the right to notify the employee about the component parts of the salary by sending a settlement sheet via e-mail.

The Ministry of Labor of Russia came to this conclusion because the Russian Labor Code does not regulate the procedure for the proper notification to employee about the components of wages and the form of the payment sheet.

In this case, this procedure should be provided for in the labor or collective agreement, as well as in the local regulatory acts of the company.

It should also be kept in mind that, the employer is obliged to notify each employee about paying wages in written form:

• on its components for the relevant period;
• on the amounts of other amounts accrued to the employee (including monetary compensation for violation by the employer of the prescribed period of payment of wages, vacation pay, severance pay, and (or) other payments due to the employee);
• information regarding the amounts  and the grounds for any deductions made;
• information about the total amount of money due for payment (Part 1, Article 136 of the Labor Code).

The purpose of issuing a settlement sheet is the need to inform the employee the contents of payments of his or her next salary.
