New rules for the entry of Russian citizens to Ukraine
According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 256/2017 on the implementation of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) dated 10.07.2017 "On the strengthening of control over the entry into and departure from the territory of Ukraine of foreigners and stateless persons, and compliance with the rules of staying on the territory of Ukraine "From the beginning of 2018, the entry of Russian citizens to Ukraine is governed under the new rules.
The entry of Russian citizens to Ukraine is possible only with a foreign passport. The process of entry includes several stages:
1) Submission of the questionnaire for entry to Ukraine:
A month before the trip (except in case of emergency), it is necessary to fill out the application form on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, indicating personal data: name, date of birth, profession, place of work, purpose of the trip and settlements planned to be visited.
2) Collection of biometric data at the border crossing:
Due to the fact that from the beginning of 2018 entry and exit from Ukraine is made on foreign passports that meet the requirements of biometric control, persons who enter Ukraine with ordinary foreign passports must make fingerprints when passing through border control.
3) Registration by location:
Citizens of Russia must register with the authorities at their location. Until 2018, registration of Russian citizens was carried out upon passing through border controls.
Also, as a guarantee of return to Russia additional documentation may be required, including the following documents:
- a return ticket,
- paid tourist voucher,
- notary invitation,
- proof of the ability to pay.
