Regarding amendments to the Russian Labor Code connected with a fixed-term employment contract
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation submitted the project on amending the Labor Code of the Russian Federation as it pertains to fixed-term employment contracts.
According to the draft law, it is planned to establish the duty of warning the employee about termination of the employment contract concluded at the time of performance of duties for the absent employee (due to parental leave) in writing no less than 3 working days before the dismissal.
This obligation of employer will be corresponded by the employee’s responsibility to notify the employer in writing not later than 5 working days before returning early from maternity leave.
The proposed changes are related to the fact that as of today, Art.79 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, in principle, eliminates the need for notification of the termination of a fixed-term employment contract concluded for the time when an absent employee is performing his/her duties.
