Regarding the simplification of obtaining a tourist visa to enter the Russian Federation by foreigners

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation comes up with a suggestion to simplify the procedure for issuing visas to foreign citizens to enter the Russian Federation in order to stimulate inbound tourism.

According to the bill, it is planned to make changes to Article 25.6 of the Federal Law "On the order of departure from the Russian Federation and entry into the Russian Federation", and to provide for the possibility of registration of tourist visas on the basis of confirmation of hotel reservation.

In particular, it is planned to increase the maximum permitted period of stay of foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation on the basis of an ordinary tourist visa from 1 month to 6 months.

It is proposed that these innovations should come into force in April 2020.
