Professional Standards Will Replace the System of Qualification Guidelines

The Government of the Russian Federation introduced a draft law “On introduction of amendments to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation regarding the legal definition of professional standards and the procedure of its development and approval".

In accordance with the draft legislation in the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, the concept of professional standards will be strengthened and shall replace the system of qualification guidelines.

A professional standard is a document that defines the requirements for the qualification of the employee needed to carry out professional responsibilities of the position. It also serves as a basis for the development of educational standards.

A professional standard can be used by the employer to determine the employee's exact job description, including the modernization of technology and work processes.

The procedures for the development and approval of professional standards will be set by the Government of the Russian Federation.
