Certain categories of foreign citizens are exempt from the requirement of obtaining a work permit
The law establishing guarantees for the work on the territory of the Russian Federation for refugees and persons granted temporary asylum was adopted on April 23, 2014. According to the document, refugees and persons granted temporary asylum can work in Russia without obtaining a work permit. The loss of the right to this specified preference is assumed upon termination (lost or revoked) of the corresponding status.
As noted in the explanatory note, adoption of the draft law will allow for the legal employment of refugees and persons granted temporary asylum, accelerate their social adaptation on the territory of the Russian Federation and strengthen the positive international image of Russia as a country that fulfills its obligations under the Convention on the status of Refugees.
