From 1 January 2015, citizens of CIS countries will enter the Russian Federation with foreign passports

With a goal to introduce a single procedure for crossing the state border of the Russian Federation, as well as for better control migration processes, work is in progress to ensure by 1 January 2015, the entry and exit regime to and from the Russian Federation on foreign passports (passports for traveling abroad) for citizens of CIS countries (with the exception for countries included in the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space).
