On December 10, 2014 the collection of biometric personal data of foreigners will be introduced

President of the Russian Federation signed a decree on November 24, 2014 "On the collection of biometric personal data of foreign citizens and stateless persons." According to the decree on December 10, 2014, the collection of biometric personal data of foreign citizens and stateless persons upon making an application for a visa to enter Russia or transit visa to travel through the territory of the Russian Federation will be introduced.
Fingerprinting will be organized in the diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Russian Federation in the UK, Northern Ireland, the Kingdom of Denmark, and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of Namibia and in the representative office of the Russian Foreign Ministry, located in crossing point on the State Border of Russia at the international airport Vnukovo. The organization authorized to ensure collection of biometric personal data is the Russian Foreign Ministry in cooperation with Federal Security Service of Russia.
